Rhode Island Brewers Guild

Project Description

When the Rhode Island Brewers Guild partnered with Local Explorers to create a mobile passport app, their initial goal was to encourage craft beer enthusiasts to visit their member breweries. However, the app took on greater significance during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to boost take-out sales and enhance brand visibility for the state’s breweries. The original app, launched in 2020, allowed users to check in to each brewery on their phones instead of using a physical passport.

Despite its popularity, the guild noted that most users tended to stick to local breweries. To address this, the app was recently updated to offer additional features, such as double points for visits during Rhode Island Craft Beer Week and new incentives to reward regular visitors. The rebooted app has already seen an uptick in engagement, with about 3,500 active users. The guild’s executive director praised Local Explorers as a great partner, citing their responsiveness and openness to evolving the app to meet the changing needs of the craft beer community.

Testimonials

“They’ve been so responsive, even proactive, Jen in particular. And Susan is open to big ideas and changing things up and then walking us through how that process will work or won’t work. So it’s a total team of pros, and we’re still happy with how the app is functioning. And when we have questions, the service is fantastic,”
